Vitamins C and E are both powerful antioxidants.

They are very important in protecting our bodies against the destructive effects of free radicals.

These free radicals are natural by-products of the metabolism of oxygen.

They contain unpaired or unshared electrons that are indeed very reactive. In order to get rid of them, we need nutrients that have antioxidant property.

The ascorbic acid or most commonly known as the vitamin C, is a water-soluble nutrient.

It means that it can easily be dissolved in water and can also be destroyed upon exposure to light and air. Having an adequate amount of it in the body can help us get protected against invading bacteria and viruses.

The recommended daily intake of vitamin C for adult men must be 90 mg and for women, 75 mg. Vitamin C has a lot to offer.

In fact, it is good for the growth and repair of the damaged tissues in the body.

It helps for the faster healing of scar tissues and wounds. Aside from that, it can also help for the repair and maintenance of bones, teeth, and cartilage. Having an antioxidant property means that it has the ability of boosting or enhancing the immune system.

Foods that are rich in vitamin C are the following:

Orange Grapefruit Pineapple Cantaloupe Mango Kiwi fruit Raspberries, strawberries, cranberries White and sweet potatoes Cauliflower and broccoli Winter squash Tomato juice Red and green peppers

Vitamin E on the other hand is a fat-soluble nutrient. It only means that it can be stored easily in the fats. Taking it in larger doses is not advisable because it may lead to toxicity. Like vitamin C, this nutrient has also an antioxidant property which helps fight free radicals.

Vitamin E nowadays can be seen being incorporated in some beauty products. Is vitamin E good for acne?

This nutrient can help protect the skin from bacteria causing acne. What does vitamin E do for your hair? The oil form of it is the one that can be applied on hair. Studies have shown that it can reduce hair fall.
